49th Citizen's Stage Tono Monogatari Fantasy "Ukotori no Fuchi"
Tono City became known nationwide for Kunio Yanagita's “Tono Monogatari'', but Tono City also has a famous “Tono Monogatari'' written by Kiyoshi Sasaki, a native of Tsuchibuchi-cho, Tono City, who had an interaction with Kunio Yanagita. Many folk tales have been passed down, including the "Komimi Soshi" and oral folk tales told by storytellers. “Citizen's Stage: Tono Monogatari Fantasy'' is based on these folk tales and the history of Tono, with citizens in charge of everything from the script to the cast and staff.
The 49th performance is based on the 35th episode of Tono Monogatari Shui. Synopsis: “Mitsu and Riichi vowed to have a future together, but their families are not on good terms, and in order to be able to get married, they go to Ukotori Shrine, the god of matchmaking. One day, Mitsu is kidnapped by thieves. Riichi was killed and lost while looking for Mitsu. When Mitsu was rescued, he was told by his family that Riichi was no longer in this world, and in desperation, he threw himself into the depths of Ukotori. Put it away.”
