Morioka City Ancestors Memorial Museum: 20th Morioka Old Town Name Exhibition "Gofukumachi Area Part 2"
The "Morioka Old Town Names Exhibition" is an exhibition that focuses on the old place names (former town names) of Morioka and introduces the history of those towns.
For this 20th edition, we will once again focus on Gofukumachi and Muikamachi, which were introduced in the Morioka Old Town Name Exhibition "Gofukumachi Area" held in 2011, and will exhibit them along with new materials.
This section introduces the history of this area, which flourished as a center of Morioka's economic activity, with merchant houses and inns thriving, and later becoming home to banks and newspaper companies during the Meiji period, as well as the prominent figures associated with it.
