Nomura Kodō & Araebisu Memorial Museum Special Exhibition for Fiscal Year 2026: "The Period Drama Zenigata Heiji – Focusing on Hasegawa in Film and Hashizō in Television" [Exhibition Period Extended]
"Zenigata Heiji Torimonocho," a representative work of historical novels by Kodō Nomura, was published in a magazine in 1931 and was soon adapted into a film and a stage play.
From the 1950s onward, the film "Zenigata Heiji," starring Kazuo Hasegawa, became particularly famous. Later, the television period drama "Zenigata Heiji" was broadcast on various commercial television stations, and the popularity of Hashizo Okawa's portrayal of Heiji, in particular, made him widely known to the general public throughout Japan.
This exhibition focuses on the film version of "Zenigata Heiji" starring Kazuo Hasegawa and the television period drama version starring Hashizo Okawa, displaying posters, drama scripts, a jitte (a type of police baton), photographs, and other items along with their stories. Please come and see these two versions of "Zenigata Heiji."
The gallery also features "Zenigata Heiji-themed spots and gourmet food" that you can still visit today! Check out the spot and gourmet report compiled by our curator.
