The Morioka Bach Cantata Verein, soon to celebrate its 50th anniversary, is holding this concert to commemorate its invitation to the Bach Music Festival 2027 in Leipzig, Germany. The conductor will be Masatoshi Sasaki (Professor Emeritus, Iwate University), a specialist in Bach music. The program will focus on J.S. Bach's Cantatas No. 187 and 147, along with six works from H. Schütz's "Sacred Choral Works" (SWV384, 380, 391, 378, 379, 390), and the Magnificat (SWV426). This program offers a chance to experience the rich spirituality of Baroque music and the prayerful sounds depicted by the chorus all at once. The instrumentalists will be the Morioka Bach Cantata Ensemble, mainly members of the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, with concertmistress Chizuru Kawahara. The soloists will be young singers who studied under Masatoshi Sasaki (Soprano: Yoko Kawashima, Hiyori Yamane; Alto: Izumi Arihara, Chisato Taguchi; Tenor: Masafumi Nishino; Bass: Taisei Oikawa).

Additionally, a rehearsal will be open to the public the evening before (17:00-18:38) at Chara Hall (Tonan, Morioka City) for students up to the third year of junior high school. (Registration required)
