Beethoven Project 9th Concert FINAL "Symphony No. 9"
The Beethoven Project began its activities in Morioka in 2001 and is a performance project that has been working with musicians from within and outside Iwate Prefecture with the goal of performing all of Beethoven's symphonies. The first concert was held in 2002.
This time, for the ninth and final performance, we will reach Symphony No. 9 "Choral". It will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 (national holiday) at the Morioka Civic Culture Hall Grand Hall, with free admission and open seating.
The soloists for Beethoven's Ninth Symphony are Mao Morita (soprano), Toshiharu Nakajima (countertenor, alto solo), Kei Takayanagi (tenor), and Yuya Chiba (baritone). The performance will also feature a relatively unusual use of a countertenor in the alto solo.
This is a regional musical activity that has been carried out over many years, performing one symphony at a time, and concluding with Beethoven's Ninth Symphony.
