Sanriku AIR/AIR Ono and Matsuoka "With the Sea and the Mountains"

One afternoon, a mysterious creature who had lost his memory was walking down the street.
As he continued walking, he would take on the shape of anyone he passed, and change his appearance to blend in with the crowd.
Drifting, staying, and moving skim the surface of the shape of the land, aspects of the people, and places of residence.
Even if they blend in, the differences stand out. And so the movement resumes.

When I arrived in Miyako, the first thing I noticed was the proximity of the mountains, forests, and sea. I recall being briefly told about how the place was made livable and the characteristics of the land. The place where I was staying was at the top of a slope. For example, slopes are hard to capture in photographs or videos. But the bodies of those who have walked there remember them. Using this as a starting point, I would like to try to turn the experiences, encounters, conversations, and thoughts I had during my stay into fiction, replacing them with universality, and see if the power of storytelling can have a physical effect.
This performance features the narration of a mysterious creature and the words heard in the desperately mimicked environment, intertwined like a flowing landscape.The audio work is intended to be enjoyable while taking a walk, lying down in your room, or sitting on the veranda at home.

This project will consist of two parts: an audio drama that can be enjoyed through audio, and an accompanying reading drama performance that can be viewed at an actual venue.

Audio drama

Audio works (audio dramas) are plays that can be enjoyed through sound alone.
By playing the video on your PC or smartphone, you can watch it anywhere, whether at home or outdoors. A viewing guide will also be sent to you when you start watching. Please refer to it.
You can fully enjoy the story by watching the film before or after the screening at the actual venue (Cinema de Aeru), or at a time that is convenient for you.

Reading drama

Ono and Matsuoka will introduce and listen to the audio drama, and talk about the production process.
We will hold a performance and audio work exchange session with the audience.

We are currently accepting letters.

Ono and Matsuoka will visit Miyako City for the first time in November 2025 and will hold a reading performance in February 2026 as a result of their stay.
In preparation for the event, we are looking for your "memories of travel and movement." Please feel free to submit your stories as if they were radio programs.

Nice to meet you. My name is Kotaro Ono, and I am a playwright.
I am currently writing a play (a theatrical script) called "Of the Sea and of the Mountain" based on my experiences during my stay in Miyako City.
Therefore, we would like to collect your "memories of travel/movement" that appear in the story.
I would be grateful if you could tell me about things that started in Miyako, things that lead to Miyako clothing, and even about travel that cannot be fully considered a journey, no matter how short or long it may be.
