The 51st Citizen's Stage Tono Monogatari Fantasy "Another Tale: The Old Woman Who Saw Paradise"
Tono city became known nationwide through Yanagita Kunio's "Tono Monogatari," but the city also has many old tales handed down, including "Kiimi Soshi" by Sasaki Kizen, a native of Tsuchibuchicho, Tono city, who had connections with Yanagita Kunio, and oral folk tales passed down by storytellers. Based on these old tales and the history of Tono, local residents are responsible for everything from the script to the cast and staff, creating a stage production of "Citizens' Stage: Tono Monogatari Fantasy."
The 51st performance, "Another Tale: The Old Lady Who Saw Paradise," is a stage production that reconstructs the content based on the script of the 14th performance, "The Old Lady Who Saw Paradise."
Synopsis: "An old tale from Tono. An old woman loses her granddaughter and grows weaker with each passing day. Her son and his wife are upset and one day take her out into the mountains and try to throw her into the valley. What will become of her…?"
