Theme Exhibition at the Museum of Archaeological Studies: "Tracing the Patterns: Lines and Shapes Carved into Jomon Pottery"

The appeal and perspective of Jomon pottery patterns
Jomon pottery has diverse and complex patterns, and many people are amazed at the high level of craftsmanship involved in their creation.
Even if the same tools are used to apply the patterns, different lines and patterns are created depending on how they are used. By tracing the patterns, we may be able to see the movements of the creator.
This exhibition focuses on the "patterns of Jomon pottery" and introduces the types and changes of patterns by observing them from the perspective of application methods. Several pottery pieces excavated from ruins in the city are featured, and the patterns of each piece of pottery are explained in an easy-to-understand manner using multiple observation methods.
I want to convey the appeal of the creative techniques possessed by the Jomon people to people who are not familiar with archaeology.
Even pottery that looks the same will have many differences if you look closely. We will explain the key points to look for when looking at Jomon pottery, such as how to distinguish patterns and the secrets of how patterns were applied.
In addition, special lectures and academic courses will be held as related events.
