Aoi Nogi's Talking Marimba Concert
Marimba is coming to Miyako!
The marimba is a large xylophone that originated in Africa. It is a very soothing instrument whose warm wooden tones resonate with the listener's body.
It's been a while since the marimba came to the Civic Cultural Center! Enjoy a talk by marimba player Aoi Nogi about the origins of the marimba, followed by a live performance. If you wish, you can also experience playing the marimba! If you hold a mallet, you will feel much closer to the marimba.
