Sanriku AIR Yukio Suzuki "Connecting"
Dancer and choreographer Yukio Suzuki, who visited the rehearsals of Iwate's local performing arts at Sanriku AIR and interviewed them, reports on her impressions of her research in various places. In addition, I would like to hold a dance workshop for the general public on the theme of "dance born from dialogue" and perform a show with the participants.
We look forward to seeing many of you, whether you participate in the workshop or just watch the show.
artist message
I stayed in Miyako City for about 10 days and researched local performing arts, nature and culture.
How much can we receive and pass on to the next generation as a single human being who lives “here” in the “now”?
Difficulties such as shortages of bearers, earthquakes, infectious diseases, and changes in the environment can occur.
Still, I think we have a mission to know, receive, and pass on the identity we received from our predecessors.
And it's not a special thing, there are things that connect as many lives as there are in various situations such as living, society, culture and education.
It made me realize that.
As a dancer, I create works and construct my thoughts through dance as part of a long history of dance.
What can you convey and connect to the next generation from your own activities?
Even if it's just a few steps, I want to imagine the future and think about "connecting".
And I would like to share it with you here in Miyako.
