At the Kitakami City Museum Main Building, special exhibitions focusing on school education and the lives of children are being held.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the promulgation of the Education System, the foundation of modern education. We will look back on the history of education in Kitakami through materials such as textbooks, school bulletins, school bags, and photographs borrowed from local elementary schools, and learn about the lives of children before, after, and today. I would like to introduce about

Experience session "Let's look at old textbooks"

You can actually pick up and look at textbooks for elementary school students published from the late Meiji period to the early Showa period. If you are interested in what kind of textbooks children used to learn in the past, please come and visit us.

Date and time: August 11, 2020 (Thursday/holiday)

Morning session from 10:00 am to 11:00 am

Afternoon session 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

*At the beginning of each session, the curator will explain and explain how to handle the materials. From the perspective of preventing the spread of new coronavirus infections and preserving materials, we ask all participants to wear a mask, wash their hands immediately before the event, and disinfect their hands.

Price Admission fee: 500 yen for adults, 240 yen for high school students, 170 yen for elementary and junior high school students

*Free admission upon presentation of a disability certificate (physical disability certificate, rehabilitation certificate, mental health welfare certificate). One companion is also free. You can also present it on the app.

* Elementary and junior high school students in the Hidakami Quasi-Residence Autonomous Zone (Kitakami City, Oshu City, Kanegasaki Town, Nishiwaga Town) are free.

*If you show your Kitakami city fire brigade member card, up to 5 companions will be free.

* Group viewing fees apply for groups of 20 or more.

*Common tickets for the Oni no Yakata and Toneyama Kojin Memorial Art Museum are also available. Valid for 1 year.
