Special exhibition "School of Memories -Old Children-" will be held until October 2nd.
At the Kitakami City Museum Main Building, special exhibitions focusing on school education and the lives of children are being held.
This year marks the 150th anniversary of the promulgation of the Education System, the foundation of modern education. We will look back on the history of education in Kitakami through materials such as textbooks, school bulletins, school bags, and photographs borrowed from local elementary schools, and learn about the lives of children before, after, and today. Experience session "Let's look at old textbooks"
You can actually pick up and look at textbooks for elementary school students published from the late Meiji period to the early Showa period. If you are interested in what kind of textbooks children used to learn in the past, please come and visit us.

Afternoon session 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
*At the beginning of each session, the curator will explain and explain how to handle the materials. From the perspective of preventing the spread of new coronavirus infections and preserving materials, we ask all participants to wear a mask, wash their hands immediately before the event, and disinfect their hands.
