Agricultural Science Museum "Special Exhibition: Fighting Pests in the Past"
Diseases and pests that damage crops occur with the advancement of technology, such as cultivating the same crop in the same place over a large area and applying a lot of fertilizer to increase the yield as the times progress. It has become an easy environment.
In the era of collecting from natural fields without cultivating crops, there was no awareness of controlling pests, but even in the era of cultivating crops, scientific research on diseases and pests should be carried out. Since there were few, the first thought was to control the pests that were noticeable.
So how did you control pests when there were no pesticides? When did pesticides develop and be used?
In this special exhibition, what kind of pesticides were controlled in the days when there were no pesticides, what kind of pesticides were developed and controlled as the times progressed, and related control machines ( I will explain it together with the exhibition of tools and tools.
In addition to the exhibition of agricultural pest specimens stored at this museum and preserved at the Iwate Prefectural Agricultural Research Center, we will also exhibit insect specimens as a special project including the summer vacation period.
